What a party!
Owen turned 30 on Saturday and we had an amazing party. My thanks to everyone who came and to those who couldn't be there but were with us in spirit.
It rained a bit but that didn't stop the grilling... or the party. Please enjoy these snapshots of some of the action...
30, they say, is the new 20. I think that's supposed to mean that for whatever reason, people just don't mature in the same way that they used to. Still, it's not like we have more time (100 is not the new 90, for example,) so you still have to savor great times like these when life's odometer reaches a new "0". It makes you take stock of what you've accomplished. On my husband's birthday, he was surrounded by friends and family. People came from different states; some changed major plans just to be there with us. That's the kind of accomplishment that might go un-noticed. Sure, people can tell me what a great wife I am for throwing an awesome party for Owen's 30th, but that wouldn't make a lick of difference if he didn't have friends who would show up and celebrate with us.
Kind of reminds me of my all time favorite movie, "It's a Wonderful Life."
"Remember: No man is a failure who has friends."
Cheers to my husband Owen...the richest man in town!
