Today, we had a great day as a family. It was one of those unexpectedly good times that I think comes right after really hard times, because you realize you can finally exhale, at least for the moment.
We decided to sell some of our stuff in a garage sale, since our whole area was having one. It meant being up very early to bring stuff out of the garage and up from the basement. In the process, I located this tricycle (a gift from my pal Lori at work:) and showed Joseph how to use it. He got a real kick out of it, as shown below.
It is an interesting thing when you put all of your stuff out and let people walk around it, judge it and reject it. It's a kind of brutal and emotionally wierd rollercoaster, sadly parting with your stuff, then feeling this anger at people who look at your things like they can't even believe you want $20 for that chair that you know you spent months trying to find and couldn't believe how perfect it was when you first saw it...and you say things like, "200, firm!" for the futon that you got as an early Christmas present from your husband because you desperately wanted a nice place for your parents to sleep when they visited. Arg. Anyway, it was cool to be out on couches in the driveway all day.
And it gets funny after a while...
Joseph got to run around all over the place. He's wearing a lot of green so he kind of blends in.
Grandma got to hang with Joseph a bit, too.
So we only sold three bookcases. I let them go for $40, all three. Which means we made $10 after you take away the registration fee. So we took our bounty, headed inside, ordered Chinese food and enjoyed our den...which is a bit torn up because we are expecting our new tv tomorrow...I love this shot: nothing quite as attractive as a man playing with his baby.

The most important thing we have is our time. Time spent together as a family is time well spent. It really is what it is all about.
Glad to hear that Grandpere is on the mend.
Love to you all,
Susan, Brian and Mitch
Pepere says...How much for the cute kid on the tricycle?? Love you all.
Sunday spent with family will be the best memories. Joseph looks like he really enjoyed being out running around. He's priceless!
Speedy recovery to Grandpepe.
